Why Organic Cotton?

Why not? At Prior Snowboard and Ski Manufactory we want to do what we can to make sustainable resource use a reality. With that in mind we have switched to the use of Organic Cotton in our softgoods wherever possible.

Each T-shirt made from one hundred percent organic cotton saves one-third of a pound of synthetic fertilizers and farm chemicals. To alleviate the impact of cotton farming organic/sustainable cotton farms use "(c)omposted manures and cover crops (to) replace synthetic fertilizers; innovative weeding strategies are used instead of herbicides; beneficial insects and trap crops control insect pests; and alternatives to toxic defoliants prepare plants for harvest."**

The ultimate goal of sustainable cotton is to move sustainable production, manufacturing and use practices throughout the cotton value chain in order to create a healthy and profitable industry for growers, their communities, manufacturers, retailers and users of all cotton products.*

The bottom line in encouraging a change from chemically-dependent processes to organic processes of clothing manufacture is demand. As a builder of customer driven products we know that manufacturers will do what the consumer dictates, and so the change to environmentally responsible, organic cotton clothing begins with you the consumer.

Prior's organic tee's are made with "combed" organic cotton which provides extra comfort and softness when compared with regular carded cotton fabric.
