The Backcountry Splitboard is designed to provide a smooth, fast ride in the complete gamut of winter conditions. Its classic freeride shape is stiff and strong with a moderately long sidecut for maximum uphill efficiency and power/stability through all mountain descents.

Notes:
1) Splitboards come apart in the center and work like x-country skis that, with the help of removable adhesive skins on the base of the board halves, allow the user to ascend into the backcountry. At the summit they quickly re-connect back together into a snowboard to ride down.
2) All Prior splitboards include a custom insert pack and come complete with Voile hardware and climbing skins. Simply attach regular snowboard bindings and the board is ready to go.

Riders Self propelled backcountry freeriders and explorers whose style is more geared towards fall line speed and large arcing turns. It's also popular with multi-day trekkers seeking to maximize their skinning efficiency without compromising downhill performance.
Ride Smooth, stable, responsive and predictable.
Conditions The Prior backcountry splitboard performs well in terrain ranging from powder, ice, crud, and crust. In fact, you will notice minimal sacrifice in performance compared with our solid Prior Men's Freeride (MFR) and Magestic models.
Design Shape: The 161cm and longer sizes have a shape and profile similar to the wider Men's Freeride styles; exceptions include increased nose height and taper for improved performance in powder conditions. The 149 - 158cm cm lengths are a similar shape to our solid women's Magestic model.

Radius: Moderately long for performance powder riding and fall line speed.

Flex: Stable under the riders feet for power and stability; the profile gradually decreases off the underfoot platform towards the tip providing forgiveness and float in the powder without sacrificing performance. The underfoot platform remains for a few cm past the rear inserts, then tapers quickly into small, soft tail section - this creates added pop, power and edgehold stability.
**Note all Prior splitboards (>150cm) come with quadraxial glass.

Strength: All Prior splitboards have steel edges and UHMW sidewalls around each board half. This feature combined with Prior's handcrafted sidewall construction, results in board longevity- the Backcountry splitboard retains its camber and delivers a high performance ride even after several years of hard use.
